A Look Back 2021: what we’re grateful for & why we’re celebrating TBU students & families

2021 has been a year for the books. We know that the students who will graduate this spring have been experiencing a global pandemic for more than half of their high school years. This is unprecedented and extraordinary, and we are constantly amazed by the ways the students we engage with on a daily basis have risen to this challenge.

As this year wraps up, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that we are grateful for–

This Fall has already brought dozens of college acceptances to the TBU family. Among those, we have heard from many joyful students who have gained admission to the following colleges, with many yet to come for the Class of 2022:

We are grateful for TBU families:

We have watched so many caring parents navigate the unprecedented changes to the admissions landscape, seeking to support your children in connecting with colleges that are not just highly selective, or well-known names, but places that will empower your children to thrive, to grow as people, and to take on new ideas and experiences. It is a joy to walk alongside families as eager to gather the information they need, as you are to step back and encourage your children to take the lead. Thank you for inviting us into your families as we walk alongside your children on the path to adulthood.

We are grateful for our TBU colleagues:

There is something so special about the team that has come together at The Best U. Every member of this team is dedicated to their students & families, deeply knowledgeable and curious to keep learning as our field evolves, and so committed to providing equitable, honest, loving & empowering support to the students they serve. What you may not know is that beyond their work with TBU clients, these individuals are also engaged in providing pro bono services to ensure equitable access to college opportunities for students who have not had access to these resources or support. We are grateful for each team member, and look forward to continuing to impact the broader college access landscape together.

TBU students:

You are the real heroes of this year. TBU students have worked so hard. We are blown away by your adaptivity in the face of virtual learning, and your impressive ability to pivot as traditional activities fell away. The class of 2022 has founded social justice clubs, launched virtual fundraisers & drives, designed AI based applications and computer software, started businesses and nonprofits, participated in graduate level research, designed inventions to solve world problems, worked scores of part-time jobs in their communities, created films & virtual dance productions, coached & counseled young children, and led sports teams, debate clubs, newspapers, robotics teams, and Model UN. They have meaningfully impacted their communities & regions through thousands of hours of service. We are inspired by the ways you have stepped up to the challenges with tenacity, and reflected deeply to tap into your most authentic stories to share with the world.

As the year comes to a close, we are so grateful for each and every one of you who have put your trust in The Best U community. It is a privilege to walk with you, and to witness your growth. We can’t wait to see what the Class of 2022 has in store for the year ahead.
